Report Summary
John Strasser, a farmer from Greenmount in the Darling Downs, planted Buster sorghum following a successful barley crop treated with TerraMend Agricultural (TM Ag). His soil exhibited good health with a pH of 6.2 and satisfactory penetrometer readings of around 300 psi. A TM application was applied three weeks before planting sorghum. Despite these favourable soil conditions, John aims to decrease his fertiliser inputs (25kg/ha starter and 100kg/ha anhydrous ammonia) by continuing TM use. He believes TM can improve soil biology, facilitating sorghum stubble breakdown and moisture retention for the upcoming May chickpea planting. John is also interested in TM’s potential frost protection benefits due to elevated crop brix levels, a crucial factor after losing a sorghum crop to frost last year.
